Natural or Alternative Remedies to Keep on Hand

As winter approaches, we hear about more and more people getting sick.  I find that the fall and winter is definitely a time when we use more of our natural remedies.  I have had a few people ask me to share some of the ones we use, so here is a list of some the ones we use most often.  Do make sure you read the bottles for all directions and use.  Do consult a naturopathic  or homoeopathic doctor if necessary.

You may be surprised at how many natural remedies can be used instead of some popular over the counter medications.  During the fall winter months I also ensure that we continue to eat a lot of raw fruits and vegetables as well as a diet full of colour and variety.

  1. Just wanted to add that Aconite is excellent for dealing with a fright. We often use this for the kids if they've had a scare, a bad fall or even when they need to calm down if they've got a bout of croup.

Arsenicum (another homeopathic remedy) is great if you've eaten something that has upset your stomach (like fish that was perhaps not as fresh as it should have been). A great to bring with you when traveling to a place that may not have the same food standards you're used to in your own country.
